On a recent holiday weekend, the Lone Wolf and I were sauntering up rue Montorgueil, my old shopping street where I bought many a roasted chicken and the potatoes with ham and onions that went with them, stuffed tomatoes that I baked at home.
But I ignored my favorite butcher as Palais du Fruit enticed me with their sculpted fruit.
Melons
Melons
And more melons!
Le Palais du Fruit
Who had done the carving at the Palais du Fruit?
Too beautiful to eat...but wonderful to admire as pieces of edible art. The French design every display to charm, and these melons allure as juicy flowers.
Food as art. Anything can be, of course--a rack of lamb, a cupcake, a fresh green salad.
What is the most beautiful food you've seen lately?
